Local shop said to stick the jag in there. I just keep getting stuck with this. Like you guys are saying it sucks being in my shoes limited knowledge right now and funds but I'm not going to buy a fish to see its tail hangin out of the tank belly up. What about mated jurupari's

I think a pair of geos would be just fine....They will get 10" if you are lucky, so a 75 for a pair would be a better solution 4 or 5 years from now :) If you have more questions about what to stock in a 55...Make a thread here about sa/ca cichlids CLICK>>>> Central and South American Cichlids<<<<CLICK If you need help making a thread PM anyone with more than 10 posts and ask :) I will certainly help you, just ask :) Try not to 'de rail' threads as it is an offense here...Try to stay on topic, and if you have an off topic question for a poster in any thread..Shoot them a PM....See you around and hit me up if you need any help at all man, and welcome to our lovely site!

it really doesnt bother you answering the same question over and over again when a person just has to use the search feature and can find out all the answer and narrow down a select few questions to ask???

I will admit it bothers me...:D I sometimes use the search function myself for those that have questions that have been answered ten times over... or more.. Then I post links to the threads and point out that there is a search..It comes down to someone was tolerant of me when I got here and unlike some I am not one to shy away from itchy comments. So my fish are no well cared for..:D

to me certain questions just get old... and i know its not just the ray forum i go to set up and filtration for a laugh every now and then... i was the same when i joined but i also searched every inch of the page and made use of the search feature... i also used google and started purchasing books.... i know mfk is a sole place for research for alot of people... but i kinda hate sounding like a broken record and it gets old to me... personally i cant think of how a person can they are the only ones to ask a certain Q.... i really think im just about do for a very long break from mfk though....

Another perspective....

Allot of members come here by accident... And allot of people are still barely learning to use the CPU.. the fact that they were able to find the site is kind of amazing.. And then to be able to find out how to post on the site is another feat for computer illiterate people..Tust me... I barely found forum life the last couple years.... This site and every other FORUM was completely ALIEN to me for some time.

I have people quit on me every week due to they have no clue how to use a computer.. And this is only Basics I am workig with them at first..

And then you have those that really DON'T care.. but will soon, if given the chance.. But they get railed and slapped across MFK by the CPU nerds here that have bad attitudes, and all the knowledge.. "All they can think about is man if you were right here... We would be gettin em up." Then they get banned and isn't it awesome!!They go out and continue to murder fish...

Our problem as more tenured members is we get board we get pissed we become lame ruthless idiots.. Myself included... And we Start talking publicly about "I'm gonna take a break" Then someone tells us No don't and others so do it lame.

When really if we need a break.. TAKE IT! I have taken a couple... :D I don't need anyones permission... I have phone numbers for those I stay in touch with..

Nic... Man if you need a break.. Take one! No one wants to see good knowledgeable members go away.. unless Those members are leaking their JUNK into every post... well who can tell anyone hey.. You need a break.... Fact is.. I usually take a break when my posts start looking like I am God... And I let you have my wrath..

I have found that when i start thinkin I need a break... Allot of things outside of here are not where they should be... And then after a few days I am realizing I have way to much going on to to be sitting infront of my cpu getting pissed because these brand new people are buying suff they haven't researched and asking ME questions..

Fact is.. THEY ARE NOT ASKING ME!! OR YOU!! :D They are asking the community of knowledgeable people they found.. And usually there is someone that has learned somethings and is completely willing to give the info.. but sometimes myself and others stop that info before it gets there by talking about how stupid it is to not use the search feature and so on :D

I mean would you rather have them ask here.... Or would you rather they go somewhere else and Talk smack about the lames over here that are so childish, arrogant, unwilling to help and un knowledgeable...

Anyway :D

I guess I had an opinion...

I noticed some other sites that have the forum as an added feature rather than a main one. They instead have a gallery with a lot of different fish species and have an articles section on different projects and freshwater basics.

I think that it would be really cool if MFK had an actual fish gallery with one or two of the best pictures of that fish and then the size, requirements and user comments. A focus on only monster and unusual fish would really add something.

Yes I am largely a lurker, I've been on MFK for a year but rather than posting I'll just read all the threads and try to pick up some things. Maybe I have been more ignorant in people rather than fish. Maybe not everyone has found out about different resources and ways to find information ,or even had computer access for only a short time. I still think there are the lazy people that just come here with a question and then leave no better off than before.

Not at all :) It does not bother me when old threads are bumped either...Some people hate both:screwy:

to the people who do get annoyed by such things: let the people that you helped earlier help the newbies asking questions you've answered 15 times. but if you're not gonna provide an answer, you shouldn't post anything. isn't it easier to just ignore questions you feel are unworthy of your attention?

I'm sure we are more different than that:D, but post count does not matter to me...I would reset my count to 0 without batting a lash...

Well said.....

That's pretty much how I feel. Sometimes I feel like answering the same old questions, sometimes I don't. I just look at the subject and decide whether I want to add to the conversation. No sense in beating someone down just for asking a question. On the other side of the coin, I'm not afraid to lay the verbal smackdown when someone is being really ignorant either. There is no place here for vulgarity or racism or any such nonsense!

Good thread Rico!
