It will add quite a bit clean up time in the tank considering I doubt the turtle will want to eat the exact same diet as the piranha. I'm not a turtle expert but it shouldn't be like more than $50 for a very basic turtle setup. I just know I wasn't very happy when I got to watch my friend's turtle eat feeders. It just bit the closest one and let it go so there were all these half eaten sick fish swimming about.

They didn't immobolize the food first? i LOVE watching turtle eat but they'll eat anything they can get ahold of. I can just imagine young piranhas being bold and getting snagged in those powerful jaws

ya it was like 3 small p's for 18, they had a gold P there mature size for like 120$... seemed outrageous to me

If you're going to try to introduce a tankmate into your tank, i'd recommend doing it while they're small. I get the feeling that you're going to be one of those ones that has to find out for themselves. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll grow up together and the Ps won't view them as food (not the turtle, some other type of fish)

Nah, was a pretty overfed turtle so he didn't go out of his way for any sort of show. There was a free snapping turtle locally that I condiserd but I figured that was just too many biting things for one tank.

I actually was looking for an alligator snapping turtle (that's what bowser from mario is based on, hahaha) when i stumbled upon piranhas for the first time and settled for them.

Anyways, sorry for the derail warlord

One day I decided to totally change all of the fish in a 125gal tank. I put a red-eared slider (turtle) in the tank. 6" long shell. 2 weeks later, even the 10-12" oscars where eaten. Very successful tank change. Nothing goes to waste. FYI the ropefish was eaten the first day, even though I put 8 large goldfish in as feeders. The turtle ate 6 goldfish first.

Here in PA they can't sell turtles til they are at least 6" in length due to juvi turtles carrying Salmonella - I read that you found it - just an FYI.
