wow some wicked dope looking bichirs

thank you very much everyone :)

yeah the teugelsi is one of my favorites too! theres something about bichirs with really long body that just makes them look really cool:)

messiner: no not yet. i'm still missing my long time favorite, P. bichir bichir, which i knew would be the hardest to find. it's rare, but not as rare as the ansorgii. so far japan is the only place i've seen with true bichir bichir, and i think their first shipment came in 2002 or 2003, and to date, there's been only a total of 60-70 specimens imported there.

i wouldn't be surprised :) but at the same time i knew this would be the one that's hard even for him. as for the 'collection' (well i guess i don't really like calling my fish that since i truly like every one of them and not just collecting...but then i can't think of another word right now), who knows how many undescribed species are still out there :D and thats not counting the possibly undescribed ones that were in the aqualog book. i guess this just makes it more fun:headbang2 but for now, i'm happy :)

cool they lil babies compared to loubards...
its cool to see the difference, yours are more brown n black, his are more with a greenish tint. but maybe that comes with age.
how much did those set u back?

thanks! more or less the same price as what loubard got his for. yeah i too find the color different, i'll move them to another tank, so i'll see if/how the color changes with different substrate. as for size, they aren't babies :) ~19"+, and 3" or so smaller (eyeballing) for the other one.

Those polys look great! My Gold Dust is starting to look like your palmas!

thanks ewurm! i remember seeing your updates, its looking good! you see the bichir with the yellow lower jaw under the palmas palmas in the 1st pic, that's what yours will look like actually, another nice looking species of bichirs. its possible to tell the two apart even when they are small.
