Don't be discouraged......I have a pacu that I raised from a quarter size....he/she has the best personality and is worth all of the aggravation Just my personal opinion

Your Pacu is 29"?! Please post a pic of this beast.

Both you and OP should not waste any money on plants and start saving up for larger tanks. I don't even know what size OPs tank is, but I'll go out on a limb and say it's too small.

Pacu will also chew up fake plants, wood and anything they can get their mouth on if they get bored or cramped. I've seen them chew up PVC, heaters and tank mates.

I just got one of these Pacu beauties, the other fish are working him (new kid on the block), especially my two female convicts but they do that with every new fish. Thought it would be a more confident fish but seems like a little scardy pants and he's one of the biggest fish in the tank.

Any plants are safe as long as you put them in a different tank from the pacu

Truely agreed, pacu can only keep in bare tank with pebbles, lols
