My pacu is still alive but is just floating around. I got him 1 day ago. I'm still new to monster fish keeping, but I am a experienced fish keeper. I acclimated him for around twenty minutes. He's a bit more than one 1 inch. He's with tree small goldfish and a 1.8 inch red tail catfish. He has not been picked on once.

Welcome aboard
the water parameters need to be tested Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH. A 40% water change per month is not good.
Is the Pacu at the top and in a corner of the aquarium? It's very possible for the Pacu to be picked on unless you're looking at the aquarium 24/7.

Tank size?

A Redtail catfish grows up to 4 feet. It grows like 14” a year. Unless you have a 2000 gallon aquarium ready, send that back to the pet store.
