Pacu or Piranha ID

how about you see what it eats put in meat, then put in some kinda vegie which ever one it goes for should give you an idea.
 
If it looks like this it is a piranha ..and if it looks like this it is a pacu.. any more questions:D :D :ROFL: :ROFL:

Depending on what size the fish is you can easily see Piranhas sharp teeth at very early stages. I dont know about the Pacus since I never raised them but have had Piranhas for over eight years now. Young RB Piranhas have spots that eventualy fade with maturity. I dont think Pacus have this trait. I can tell you from experience one quick way to find out. Net the fish and take it out of the tank. If it bites through the net and falls back into the tank its definetly a Piranha. I go through more nets this way. I had my 15" Black Piranha bite through a $40 fishing net within a second and half and fall into the transportation tub when I sold it this spring.
