Pacu Problem

I saw you asking about the tub in the general discussion area. You have said that the pond would be up in a month or so? If that is right then yes the 41+g tub is a workable temporary holding tank, you will need to do partial water changes often and keep it well filtered and securely covered by something like a light diffuser panel,. Kept alone in there it will not injure itself in the corners or break the tank or tank lid.

ok i have to drop a thought on you

i am absolutely sure that you can find a pet store that would rehome him either that or sacrifice some of your personal expenditures so as to put the pacu first

when i went to pick up a 55g tank that i was buying from someone on the phone he asked if i had room to rehome 3 6" catfish when i showed up there was a standard oil bucket with filthy water with these in it so i ran as fast as i could and set up a 55g at home and did my best to make sure the fresh tank was fast tracked so as to not kill them in this case i had to do what i had to do with these

well my solution to them since iwas expecting some catfish and got these i went without myself so as to find the first big tank i could and when i found it i cut a deal and now they are in here my 180g

i also rehomed 2 pacus from a 55g and a 33g knowing full well the eventual size of them and the length of their life i took them knowing what this would mean so again i looked an looked and found me a 300g tank which i will have in place by the end of dec but this being said as i studied more on these fish i decided to remake their home somewhat now the tank looks like this

so my suggestion is this do everything you can to find at least a 100g tank and if you cant find one or afford one find a new home for that fish cause honestly the 55g is way to small you need a tank with at least a width of 2 feet and the bioload on that 55g is way to much to be taken care of by the filter

though on this side he does look nice and im sure that you will find a bigger tank or home for him just make sure you keep the water fresh an the filter media clean i would suggest use the rechargeable filter stuff from sea chem like purigen as in the long run you will save money since you can reuse it over an over

by the way what is your fishes name my big one was name rhonda by its owner an i called the baby rhoda
