Are pacu's known to be agressive?

They can be, why?

IME, theyre not so aggressive towards other fish, so much as other pacu. i had a school and they were constantly fighting.

i was just wondering kuz mine was kinda picking on my oscars

I've never seen a pacu be agressive to anything but a carrot. If you were a carrot, you would think a pacu was mean as hell. Seriously though, mine chase each other around and bump each other, but no biting or anything like that. They are just playing. Mine are almost 2 feet and get bullied by a 10 inch oscar. They aren't quite what I'd call a mean fish.

Well mine was trying to bite my oscars don't know why it was the first time i noticed him ever doing that, an do pacu's really like carrots???

Is your oscar hungary... try feeding him a small slice of carrot to nipple.. just cut up small..or small grape ..they love them...seedless green... or small piece of banana.. zucchini and even lettuce... they are also very playful... and once in awhile if bored will chew on tank filter hose etc .. so give him some tasty goodies... and see if that helps... pacus are vegetarian... i think too much protein can make them jittery and aggressive...

They love carrots. Also, zucchini, broccoli, cucumber, apple, pear, some nuts, I'm sure theres more, just can't think of any right now. They also like pellets, worms, crickets, algae wafers.

Edit: Liz beat me to it.

thanks .... i forgot half of the list... until you mentioned these.. i remenber mine loved those algae wafers... the way you describe yours brings back fond memories....

Mine get bullied by a parrot cichlid that is 6" and the pacu's are 14" and 17".
However I didn't make it out to my shop one day and came in the next morning to feed them only to discover the front half of my 8" jack dempsey laying on the bottom.
