Ok so I just came back from the LFS from buying Hikari Gold Pellats for my cichlids when I started asking about what fish could be housed in a 30 gallon long for life. One of the fish the guy suggested was a red belly pacu....................................:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::screwy:

(I was dying inside) and calmly told him that they get over a foot in no time and he said no they grow to be about 10 inches in captivity. :grinno:

Now IDK if the guy was just trying to sell me the Pacu or was mistaking it for a red belly piranha but it was funny none the less.

Maybe he was just new and didn't know his stuff? I'm sure we weren't all born knowing how big certain fish grow. I think he should just learn what he's talking about, especially considering where he works.

Are you a noob to this forum...All LFS in my area regardless of who you ask think a 30 gal tank is big and a 55 is huge.. I can't tell you how many times in my area the employees in order to sell a fish . Will all tell the customer the fish grows only to the size of the tank...:nilly:

Theyre job is to sell fish, fish dies, more repeat business until the customer gets tired. Then new customer takes his place...viscous circle! check the CL ad's in your area. Lot's of people entering and getting out of the hobby daily .....sorry rant over..........
 
I'm just saying that this guy should learn his material. That doesn't make him a tool or whatever.
