i was just wondering how many mfkers out there keep large pacu? they are the most common easily attainable cheap true monster fish on the market, so most dont keep them. but i know there are a few of you out there like myself that keep the beasts. what size? how long have you had them? what is your feeding regimine? tank specs?

Mine are all "rescues". Ages range from 4 years to 16 + years. (15 total)
3100 gallon indoor pond/tank.
They eat pellets, vegetables, fruit, & nuts. Plus if its not food, it is a "chew toy". :)

Our two are probably stunted. They are approaching 24" and are very broad. They were about 15" when we got them nearly 5 years ago. They are currently in a 300 gallon tank. We are upgrading to an 1800 gallon tank which involves a major DIY addition to our house. Until we build our fish room, the new tank will stay in a storage facility

ive got one large 22" thats 2 yrs, 4 that are 3-4" and one that recently died that was 22" and 6-7 years old (a severely stunted rescue)

up until last year they resided in a 250g gallon tank with a fairly heavy stocking of other much smaller cichlids, until moving to the 1100g indoor pond. Once my juvis hit their growth spurt and ballon to their 16-20" im going to build a larger pond, this time hopefully the right way and not with an intex pool.

i've had mine for a few months purchased them when they were the size of a half dollar so they are still small right now 7-9'' and i have three of them but i was wondering if anybody else has noticed these fish will eat almost anything

the fact that they eat anything is one of the first you need to learn when keeping pacu. get heaters out of the tank or get titanium and keep the wires out of the water. they love to break heater glass or chew up the wires.

i've never had that happen but i have fed mine many weird things and they have eaten them checkout my blog entitled garbage can pacus
