a friend of mine has a red bellied pacu and he is planing on selling it because he did not know what he was getting into at the time he bought it. what he wants to know is at the different sizes, how much can he sell it for. i could not answer because i am not a piranha person. thanks for the help :D

lol i did not know where to post this cuz i never needed to post about them ;) anyway it is only like 6" and it looks healthy to me. how much is it now (probally not much) and how much can he get if he grew it out

atm its not really worth alot as its really small. Here in the uk at that size they go for around £10, i sold 1 alot bigger for that price just to get rid. If he were to grow it out he would need a huge tank and alot of food as thye eat for fun and grow massive :D I mean massive too

My lfs has a 15" for $15 they are hardly worth a thing

Diogenes I thought pacus were piranas that didnt eat meat.
Nope

taxonomically pacus are not piranhas anymore than silver dollars are.

Piranhas include and are limited to (if the piranha clade is to be monophyletic: that is including one ancestor and ALL it's given descendants) these genera: Pygocentrus, Serrasalmus, Catoprion, Pygopristis and, Pristobrycon. Everything else in the serrasalminae subfamily is either a pacu or silver dollar.

@ OP

he can sell it for $0.00. Pacus are worthless because they grow to such large sizes and very few people can actualy house one when full grown. Your friend will be lucky if he gets 10 dollars for it.
