I have 4 pacus & an arapaima in my tank... my problem is, my pacus keep on nibbling on my plants despite of feeding them regularly... how do i keep them from eating my plants?

I didn't know Pacus liked plants. Anyone else have that experience?

Pacus eat anything! I had one before and it even tried the heater cord (I got a nasty shock the next time I put my hand in the water)

In the wild the mainly eat fruit and nuts that fall from the trees in the rainforest, so you can include some veggies in their diet. I'm not sure how you could stop them eating the plants, cos they're always hungry ... fake plants?

Just my 2c..

Pacus are omnivores and grazers. In the wild, they eat plants, insects, amphibians, fish, and crustaceans. They've also been seen eating fruits and nuts that fall into the water.
You can try a tough-leafed plant like FW onion plant. Or, install a false back to the tank with plants at the back side and the fish up front (like a full length refugium).

pacus eat anything......i have two red bellies and had the same problem.......i went to fake plants and everything worked out........good luck...........

these are red pacus... and you guys are right.. they eat everything.. even my arapaimas feeders (small guppies & shrimps)... i regularly feed them arowana pellets yet they eat my plants.. it's quite messy coz they chew them up and spit some of the little pieces.. :(

pacus are rebels!! why dont you try feeding them with nuts?
