Not so much a species forum as groups of fish, ancients, bottom, natives and cold water, cichlids, and others. What type fish you thinking about?

3 foot? dang didn't realize that.
speaking of goldfish and betta. my ex wife put in a couple fish with one of our betta. ate his fins off. keep thinking they should make locks for fish tank lids. probably could fab something up with acrylic tanks? leason learn, no one but me is to do anything but look at my tank(s).

I honestly think that pet stores shouldn't even be able to sell pacus or alligator gars or anything that gets bigger than 12". I have Oscars but they are in their own 55 gallon tanks, and I did research before buying. If you want some type of fish that gets that large you should have to prove that you can take care of them right. Just like when you are adopting a dog or cat from the humane society they ask for proof that you can keep them. But people would probably just lie about it, and then end up killing the poor things. Enough of my rant. :D

pacus and a. gars make good pets provided you have ample space, and i mean REAL big tank or pond.

Pacus should not be allowed in the hobby..

Restriction is an idea, it could inflate the price, and only serious hobbyist would be interested.
