I'm getting a tank ready for one. I would like to know anything you can tell me about these fish!! Water temp,ph,diet,ect.... Anything? I'm going to do some searching my self now:) Thanks in advance:D I do know they get huge;)

The first thing I would recommend is that they are in a rounded tank. If not, then it needs to have something in the corners to deter the fish from swimming into the corners (big bunches of fake plants or something). They are almost constant swimmers and can get caught in corners and damage their paddle. You'll want most of the tank to be open water also so they don't get caught up decor. As far as diet, they are naturally filter feeders for the most part, but I've heard of them being weaned onto a pellet diet.

here's my advice - DONT do it! they are the biggest pain in the *** ever ...
i thought i would never say it about a fish, but that was until i had a paddlefish ...
they are impossible to feed without destroying the water
the only way to do it is to have live brine and other tiny stuff for it to filter out

dont do it! :)
on a side note, have you seen any sturgeon lately? i tried calling RJs, but no luck lately

they r naturally filter feeders so u should feed plankton, and other stuff for it to filter out. also ask new2natives he has a paddle fish right now

I think the first thing you should do is get a tank much bigger than the you would for any other fish of the size your new paddle fish is. I would want a at least a 50 for even a small paddle fish. make sure you have very good biological filtration. simply filtering the water will not do. Most of the commercially available fish are feed on pellets, tiny pellets, I would rather have daphnia magna at first but if you have to use pellets use a feeding ring so the pellets don't disperse all over the tank. I would use hikari micro pellets, they sink slowly so the fish can swim back and forth through the slowing sinking stream of pellets. as for pH i would say neutral would be best or close to it and moderately hard water. Lots of aeration in the form of bubble wands. Once you get your fish eating and doing well you can worry about a bigger tank. I honestly think a paddle fish could get used to a square tanks but it needs to be big. At least five times as wide as the fish is long and 10 or 20 times as long. wide and long is much more important than tall. Let me know who it does, I am planning to try one eventually and I am curious as to others success.

paddlefish are hard to take care in home aquarium than public aquarium, probably due to the water quatily and the feeding. Paddlefish look cool but bored, all they do is swimming around....zero personality..

threy are really hard to keep, I know one person on here was thinking about it and decided not to another tried and the fish ended up dying.
