I still have a paddlefish, i've had him for two years now, he is a dink or dwarf fish, his hatch mates are more than 24" inches now but he is still less than 12" closer to 10" probably. i don't handle him much it upsets his senses somehow goes nuts for a few minutes. he eats floating pellets and guppies now, he will take live blood worms and daphnia and other invertebrates from the water column. I've yet to see him take a crayfish from the bottom but they disappear from his tank before they can grow much over 1/2" as do ghost shrimp. he is currently residing in a snap set swimming pool in my basement. outdoors they seem to be very vulnerable to predatory birds in shallow ponds. I am trying to decide to build a large tank for him or wait until i move to do so. He is very cool fish but not exactly personality plus...
Raising him and the ones i lost for various reasons required a considerable effort of growing huge amounts of live daphnia and searching for floating pellets he would eat, he is still finicky about pellets but will eat them sparingly.
