Paddlefish

Does anybody have any experience with juvenile Paddlefish? I know they get large but any experiences with the juveniles in the home aquarium before transferring them to a pond. My source for them dried up and I should have picked one up when I could. Does any of the "online" or site sponsers ever carry them?

Most experiances with Paddlefish in aquaria go like this:
You buy one.
It wastes away.
It dies in a month.

They never make it to an outdoor pond.

I would not suggest this fish for Aquaria unless you are very commited and have a very good idea of what your are dealing with long before trying.

Kudos to you BTW for at least asking questions BEFORE getting one. Unfortunatly your really asking questions in the wrong place and will not get much info on properly keeping these fish from a forum. (Any forum to be fair)

I would suggest you do a Lit. search of aquaculture and fish biology journals to get a better idea about what it takes to house these fish short or long term.

I agree, a very tough fish to keep. PM zoodiver, he can tell you the vagaries of keeping paddlefish.
