Nice deal, it's great you could save the arowana. How do you condition a fish for coloring?

tanning lights, background, substrate, generally the color you want your fish to promote you would tweek the housing towards color + gutting feeders, feed directly with color enhancing pellet or high carotenoid shrimp only diet promotes pigmentation too.

Tanning lights are generally just a thing for Asian arowana, haven't seen anyone using them for anything else.

Groomed my jar as best i could as if it was rtg // ran white substrate + golden concrete background + yellow color enhancer C.R. 8 vitamin in feeders. Did not feed it shrimp with skin bc didn't want it to turn reddish dark brown like many Jars w/the bronzish color w/reddish tail vs golden pearl w/greener tail as i prefer jardini to be. Also did not use tanning (next time considering the finnex w/leichardti) though used yellow or orange led 6 hrs a day and red a little bit just for fun.

So my pH crashed to below 4.5 because my tap water is basically RODI, but with Replenish and joint usage of Acid/Alkaline buffer, it's up to 6.5 and now I'm having a bit of bacterial bloom as my nitrifying colony repopulate. That's why my tank isn't looking 100% in this picture, but otherwise my arowana is in the tank and settling nicely. Gourami showed some aggression initially, as giants do, but has calmed down and mostly ignores it now.

Tank is almost finished clearing up and the arowana is eating pellet food now. His colour has started to improve and he is being totally left alone by my fish now. Seems like everything will work out nicely.
