Picking up the 125. Paint the background black or no

You have 3 hours to answer this poll as of 2:39 PM EST, 8/26/23

I wouldn’t paint, if for whatever reason you don’t like it it’s no longer reversible. I just tape a black plastic tablecloth to the back of my tanks, easy to remove and looks great.

Paint away brother! I had no regrets when I painted mine and would do it again if I were to get new tanks.

What are the other options?
If black self adhesive foil is an option I would go for the foil.
I'd prefer to paint if I do decide to go with a black background, kinda tired of the uneven look of stuck on backgrounds.

I like to paint styrofoam panels black, and tape them them to the back, and sides, they offer insulation during power outages, protect the back glass from scratches, and if you ever decide to turn the tank around, that option is available with very little hassle.

I've been down the route of sticking backgrounds on in the past. It can work flawlessly, but in my experience it seldom does.

And with the proper paint it doesn't even need to be a hassle removing it should you regret it further down the line.

I use weatherproof exterior paint on the backs of glass tanks. It goes on a treat with a roller, two or three coats is good, and when dry, if you pick at a corner it peels off easily in one big sheet.

I've posted the picture below several times in the past from when I tore down my old 180g. Should I ever get a glass tank again I will always paint the back with this paint.

Does spray peel off the same as roll on?

Does spray peel off the same as roll on?

I've always painted my tanks indoors down the years so I've never used spray paints. Though I don't see why it shouldn't peel off just as easy as roller applied paint.

The key with exterior paint is that it's slightly rubberised so it won't crack. It's this rubberised property which makes it so easy to peel off.
