rustoleum multicolor textured spraypraint, it was like $5 a can at walmart and was well worth it. Looks amazing with pool filter sand. Heres some pictures (not great but you get the idea.)

why paint the back of the tank?

Also What Colors are recommended.

StingRay94 Great Thread IDEA

Go with black it makes your fish stand out more gives a Very professional look.

One of my tanks i painted blue. And my eyes were more attracted the blue then the fish. I ended up taking it off and replacing with black..

Look at my Aviator pic of my clown knife in black> sexy as hell. Notice how much the fish stands out. and how much your eyes are attracted to the nice white sand.

Should be standard when you buy a tank to paint the back. Looks soo ugly with outpaint IEK!

It is just a 30 gal and I have room to get back there. What do you think of Rustoleum? I have a quart of black already.

Rustoleum is perfect. And your gonna have to do two coats also. Just because light will leak thro and make your tank look like a crap job if you dont.

is it rustoleum spray paint or brush on paint?

if it's brush on, get a fan and get ready for a marathon. it usually takes 6+ coats.

Its way 4xeasier to use the spray cans... Ive rolled on paint on the back of my tanks only haveing to do like 3 or so coats. With spray its less work no brushes to clean and less drips and 2 coats instead of 3+.

Salt creep wil over years will creep thro your paint on the back top. But freshwater tanks stay perfect.

i hate to kill your dreams...but if you paint it while it's anywhere near a wall, you're going to regret it.

empty the tank, clean all of what's in it along with the filters, and lay it on it's side until it's done.

if you don't break it down, you'll end up with spotted carpet and spot's where the wall shines thru the paint.

best of luck
