Painting back of tank with it full?

YEAH YOU CAN ROLL IT OR SPRAY IT.... I'VE SPRAYED MY 90 GALLON SALTWATER WITH ALL MY FISH IN... JUST CLOSE THE TOPS AND TAKE SOME PLASTIC WRAP OVER THE TOP.... THEY ALL LIVED

I ended up rolling it on with the tank full. I noticed that the roller doesn't cover it any where near as good as the spray can. I had to use a ton of coats on it with the roller.

thats even easier.... poor the paint in the tank drop a few small brushes in there and tell your fish no more food till its done...

just set a fan to blow some air on the tank... you will be fine just make sure to clean the glass good first... water spots and other crap painted to the back dont look good

I always thought the paint fumes would enter the water and kill the fish. It's nice to know that it can be done. I still don't know if I want to take the chance, though. I have heard of too many mysterious tank wipe outs.

Hasn't anyone had issues with clearance? None of my tanks have enough clearance behind them to get a roller back there.Either way, black paint on the wall is going to be a problem. With taping, trying to protect the wall and then paint it, it just seems easier to drain the tank and move it out away from the wall.

This one tank was about 1 foot off of the wall, so it wasn't a huge problem. All of my others are right next to the wall though.

i just used the rattle spray can from HD. Sprayed couple tanks while fishes are in there. As long as you mask tape the above, like someone has mentioned, you will be fine. I will say the house will definitely smell like fumes, but its worth it at the end.
