So I'm upgrading to a 55 gallon in a little over a month, and will be moving my 35 out into the living room.(55 will be in my room)

This is what it looks like right now;

I'd like to paint everything black. The stand, the hood, and the trim on the tank.
The stand is wood, but I was wondering, would it be possible to paint the hood/trim? It's plastic.

How would I go about doing all this, and what would be the best paint to use?
Thanks!

try a black gloss type of paint. its nice and thick. dnt spray paint it. because the cover will be to thin. unless you give it 3 or 4 coats

I've heard a lot of good things about Krylon fusion, if you decide not to take that road I'd suggest a bit of sanding, then follow it up with a coat of adhesion promoter and whatever paint you'd like.

I've heard about this Krylon Fusion, too...I've also heard that the Lowe's brand paint is good. Heard anything about that?

Nope...

Just a suggestion, I'm sure you can read all the reviews on Google.

+1, but any brand of black spraypaint should do just fine. For maximum adhesion and the best color I'd use a grey primer spraypaint first.

I used Krylon Fusion on my 75 gall. Worked great on the trim, Just wish I woulda had more to do a second coat on the tank but it still looks good.

I used semi-gloss black paint from Lowes to paint a used 150 I bought. Did stand, trim and made a new hood which I painted too, looks so much better than before.
