I'm considering switching out my 110 to a new pair or possibly a group.

I would consider a group or a pair.

A few I liked thus far:

Mota's, and Freddy's for Parachromis

Cubans, Gramodes, Beani

Or EBJD's

I have a Trimac and Midas in a separate tank, so I would prefer this one to be a tier down on the aggression level.

I agree with freddies idea.110 is 5ft tank? Or bocourti, severum, texas.maybe a group of blue acaras? With SD or another schooler

110 as in 48x18?
Cubans would be a good species.
I'd stay away from the Parachromis unless you're going to upgrade the tank or switch species down the line. My LA Ceiba male was pretty aggressive twards his female in my 125, they're in the 180 now & doing good. I've also had problems with a previous Mota pair in a 5' 100 gal.

How about a Hericthys species? A nice pair of Carp. Escondido? They would be a good one

It's a 36x30x24 its more like a big cube, I thought with being extra deep I could create enough sight breaks for a Parachromis especially with egg crate divider for the females protection, but given the advice, if I swap the tank out. I'd lean toward Cubans, Grammodes, Beani, or EDBJ x Blue Gene Dempsy group.

I've had both Mota and Freddy prior just never a breeding male/female.

well parachromis normally stay a pair for life if they are proven, They rarely fight as much as other groups do, dont get me wrong a male could kill the female but with parachromis I have never had to worry about that happening

Parachromis managuensis
Amphilophus lyonsi
Amphilophus hogaboomorum
Amphilophus festae
Amphilophus trimaculatus
Nandopsis haitiensis

of course green terrors will always hold a special place in my heart

Yeah... I'd go Cuban. Grammodes& Beani IMO are too aggressive for that footprint& I just am not fond of JDs
