Is this a little better? I am unable to get a new picture because she is holding again and keeps herself in the shade of the filter box almost all the time. These two are going to over run me with fry. It’s ok though....I’m enjoying the experience.
The problem with Afican cichlids is that unless you purchase them from a trusted source, there's no telling what the genetics may or may not be. The hobby is riddled with hybrids of various shapes, sizes, and colors.
Well thanks anyway. I am not a good photographer and this fish just wont pose for me.
My pics are not picking up enough detail. I have found some pics online that make me about 80 percent sure she is an MG but I wanted to be closer than that.
I bought them about 1-1/2 years ago from a small chain store but the clerk really knew nothing about them. I was even less knowledgeable so I picked them out by color.
After doing countless hours of web browsing I have finally found a sight that had pictures matching my fish. I am now 100 percent sure that these two are Metriaclima Greshakei. The first brood is doing well as I haven’t lost any. The fry are 4 months old.
Brooding mom is doing well. She is 21 days into a second brood. I must be doing something right.
