A friend of mine has a pair of vieja that has bred in a community.( 180g )But the eggs were eaten by tankmates. When separated in another tank they bred and raised couple hundred fry.
He now wants to let off the pair as he's changing the stock.
He's telling me to take the pair. The fish is approx 7-8". My question is will they live in a 4ft 120 ? I don't have any plans of raising or selling the fry. I may leave the fry in there and let them do this thing.
What do you guys think? Do i need dithers with those?

If its just for breeding, ppl breed P bass in 120's, i don't see why there would be an issue with a bonded pair.
I've kept a pair of Bifas, Midas & Festae in a 75 at that size, with successful spawns. depends on the level of care you provide and your individual goals.

Same answer as before, IMO too small for adult pair.

Yes, I agree, it depends on one goals. Mine have always been to offer a reasonable amount of space/territory for the fish that I am forcing to coexist in a glass box. Not just what can one pull off. I've seen adult red devils in 30 gallon tanks.

..puSkar.. ..puSkar.. so the short & sweet answer is it depends on your goals? Unless stunted, neither of those fish are going to remain 7-8", obviously you are smart enough to know that so I'm not sure why you keep repeating their current size?

Funny how quickly opinions & perspectives change. Comment below was from October........

Seriously huh? Think only the newbies / young keepers agree to his way of Fishkeeping.
I'm on the way the pros/ older guys keep them .
Depens.
You keep aro, bichirs and wanna add more to a 180 .
I won't even keep more than an Oscar pair in that sized tank. Maybe a solo jag .
That's my way of keeping fish. I want them to thrive not just live.
