It is worth noting that this exact fish was initially purchased as part of a trio. They lived happily together for three months.
Then one morning I woke up and they all had serious gashes missing from their fins, marks everywhere, barbell damage, etc. I immediately gave away the tank's bully (not one of the Aros).
The next morning I woke up and one was dead. Guess I singled out the wrong fish.
I sold the other Aro at a discount to a nearby rescuer that day... thankfully they both recovered.
That's not to suggest that he'd encounter the same issue again. That was 2008 and obviously the fish has grown and matured. But it came out of nowhere and was nearly lethal to all three fish. That was enough to convince me not to try a multi-aro setup again.
But many people on here have done it successfully, and he's big and hardy enough that you'd have plenty of opportunity to spot and stop any fighting. So it's certainly possible.
Saw the pics in your ray thread, btw. Put a big smile on my face. Very glad those fish went to your tank.
