Poroderma africanum
Striped catshark

Max length :
101 cm (43.3 in) TL male/unsexed; 93 cm (36.6 in) TL (female)

Distribution:
Southeast Atlantic: endemic to South Africa. There are old records from Madagascar and Mauritius, but these require confirmation.

Biology:
Occurs in the continental shelf, both inshore and offshore. Prefers rocky reefs from the intertidal zone down to 100 m depth. Nocturnal, often found in caves and crevices during the day. Feeds mainly on crustaceans, but also bony fish and cephalopods. Oviparous. Readily kept in captivity.

We used to have a pair in our cold water tank up in MN (65-68F). They will little ones, only 24" or so. Not very active except during feeding time (typical shrimp, squid, clam etc...).

they do look cool but i guess i would like something a little more active. that sucks. just so nobody gets the wrong idea this is all planning for later in life when i got more money to put towards a huge display tank.
