I have some prescription Panacur..

It was diagnosed for a turtle, but I talked to my vet and it should be no problem to use with rays..

I am just curious, does anyone know how to calculate the dosage amount? Is it a ratio based on the weight of the ray?

Any insight or tips would be helpful.. I don't plan on using it anytime soon. Does it have a shelf life? I just want to know how to use it and be prepared just incase.. I understand injection should take place near the base of the tail in the meaty/fleshy area.

If anyone is interested in taking the panacur off my hands, let me know.. It's not a huge amount, but I guess its hard to come by..

amazongirl? :D

It is dosed based on the weight of the animal. I cannot remember the dosage off the top of my head. I think it is in Noga's Fish Medicine book. It is usually given orally. I can not rememeber ever using it as an injectible on a fish. It does have a shelf life- there should have been an expiration date on the bottle the drug was drawn from.

I've never used it as an injectable either, but have done it orally for a lot of my wild caught stuff during quarantine. It also has that nice little side effect of causing the animal to go off feed for a while.

how would you give this orally to a ray? inject right amount into nightcrawler and feed??

I've injected into worms or also I'm mixed it into Mazuri gel diet (for those rays that were eating it).

I had to go back and double check...

Used to do 75mg/Kg of body weight every other day for three hits, then repeat a week later. Worked very well.
