Help! Please, before the season starts! My 2 year old Panasonic Viera 1080 plasma has a problem with the HDMI inputs, it's not receiving the signal. The tv works fine through coaxial cable but anything I plug into the 3 hdmi ports is not being projected. I had a PS3 and cable running to the two HDMI ports in the back and when I came down one day nothing worked. I switched cords and tried the third port located on the front of the tv but with no luck. Both external systems are operating fine leading me to believe that the problem is with whatever reads and projects the HDMI signals within the tv. This thing cost me a thousand dollars 2 years ago and I can't possibly afford another one or even explain to my wife why its screwed up. I am praying someone whos familiar with these tvs can tell me what's wrong and how much it costs, or maybe that it is just some dumb reset I have overlooked. The repairman is charging 150 dollars just to show up and do an assessment and if it turns out it cost 700 dollars I am just paying him 150 to find out what is broken. One of you has to be a repairman or a electronic genius, there are too many smart people here. If someone could help me out of this jam I would be very grateful. I am sorry this isn't fish related, I have no other scientifically capable friends and i'm desperate.

Call Panasonic. Sounds like you need to reset the motherboard in your TV for the HDMI inputs. They will step you through that procedure.

I assume the TV is out of warranty so if the reset does not work then you will be callin a repair man and to be honest I completly forget how much a repair like this had cost before when we did warranty/repair work at Circuit City.

You could run component cables fo now. Sure they only go to 720P but other then your blu ray everything else will be in 720 anyway like your cable/sat tv.

Im in Downingtown too, and thank you very much. Resetting the board sounds good to me, Ill call them and see how it goes. Unfortunately I have to do it tomorrow because im leaving to work a double today. But now I can go to work with some hope this can be fixed soon. And thanks for the website too, I will join if all else fails. I really appreciate everyones help.

I had a problem with my Panasonic Viera too where it would turn on and then turn off right away and the power light would flash 9 times. Panasonic had a repair guy come and take it and they gave me a loaner and fixed mine for free since I only had it a couple of months.

i am not sure the eye can tell the diffrence from 720 to 1080p on anything less then a 52inch

Depending on how far you sit from the screen you can easily see a difference in anything size 42 and up...

I talked to a guy today who thinks it is the HDMI board and it was blown by a lightning strike/storm etc.... followed by a energy surge to the tv. We have had some crazy storms. I'm calling a few different repair guys tomorrow to price repair work.

Do you have the unit on a surge protector? If so most brands will actually pay for the repair to your unit should their strip not have saved the unit.

Monster and a lot of other brands sold in the box retail stores cover this.
