Pangasius Feeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How I got mine to eat was by putting the food in the tank and then tapping the glass lightly with the food can a few times. After a couple of weeks the fish learned that taps meant food. Now all of my cats, pacu and silver dollars attack whatever I put in the water whether it floats or sinks. Sound familiar? (Pavlovs dogs) My ID used to get pushed around at feeding time, not after teaching them this trick.

I actually have a similar trick for feeding times... but with my RTC I swear he smells it coming before I ever get there cause I'll stick my hand in the tank and the food is GONE!!!

all my other fish know to come out for food when I tap my braclet on the side of the tanks... it's cheesy but it works!

I also have a 22-24" Albino channel cat outside in my koi pond that hand feeds after tapping on the rocks. He will come up to my hand and let me pet his nose and chin too. If he lets me pet him and I don't have food in my hand he will grab my fingers, turn away and give me a big fat tailwhip soaking to let me know that he is not happy. I had my ID shark in the koi pond for the summer and after about a week of settling in he must have gotten hungry cause he remembered what the taps meant and never missed a meal after that.

I already trained my common pleco with the tapping. When he hears tapping he zooms over to his driftwood and WALA food!!

Right now the pans see the copper tube I put in the water that I drop the food down in and they go to the end off the tube and start sucked at the bottom. So they know thats where the food comes. I Just wish they would learn fast to eat at the surface like the rest!! Now even my balas are learning that the tube means food!

Atleast the little one knows that a pellet is food now, slowly but surely I will make them learn!
