Pangasius sanitwongsei question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks guys, will try to take some pics. kinda difficult with the glare and constant movement of the hifin

morning glare coupled with uncooperative hifin equals bad pics. but here are some of the other guys. the last 3 pics shows:

My smallest with narrow head and long body, (the round dark disc is the bottom drain with diameter of 24 inches)

Next are 2 hifin that have broad head and shorter body.

the last one shows my biggest at 36 inch. Notice the injury to his pectoral fin and the length of his pelvic fin.

will try to get better shots next time.

guy, from the pelvic fin alone, I think we can rule out iridescent shark.

What is the scientific name of paroon shark?

What is the diff between a hifin and a paroon?

Thanks

Lar

Great pic's and good looking fish. All look to be paroon's, :)

Thanks, maybe I have some short bodied mixed in. I did not notice when I got them at 6 inches.

they def look like pangasius sanitwongsei. its likely that there is just some physical diversity which is common in all species. they look great, and the pond is awesome. please post as many pictures as you stand to upload :D

here you go. 23,000 gallons, 5 1/2 feet deep. 3 bottom drain to 3 chamber system (vortex, brush, biological with j mat) two 40 watt aqua uv. performance pro pump. bought all the fish feb 1, 2006.

My biggest problem with taking picture is the morning glare, even with a uv filter. high noon seems like a better time to take pics, so I have to wait for the weekend to do that since I have to go to work. Another obstacle is how the hifin color blends with the dark bottom.

IITUFFTOBEAT: yeah, I guess not all of them can be a yao ming, especially when the biggest is very territorial during feeding time. Thats him in the last pic. His pectoral fin and spike has recovered since that pic and I notice his dorsal antenna is growing back slowly.
