I know I'm bringing up an old thread , but just had to thank "yh_loh" for the pics, almost forgotten about he thread . Great pics man, would have liked to see the 5 footer but these are already big beasties .
no problem all. this fish is one of my favorite because it look and swim like shark. yea it is no good for aquarium but def good in the pond and I plan to buy a 15 fts fiber tank to house this monster. This will happen in near further but no sure when yet. Have u aquirce any Paroon shark?
I love these fish! , I can't find parroons for sale here but picked up two albino and one blue pangusius , they are around 2 foot atm from 4cm after two or so years... Only got a crappy pic ( they are fast)
This is the documented biggest Paroon ever caught. It's 5'1 foot. 150lb. Caught in a private fishing lake, so it's never gone hungry!
They usually max out at 4 foot but can reach 5. Probably never more but there are a few reports of Thai fishermen landing a 650lb monster that would make it rival the Gigas for size. Berlin zoo and Animal Kingdom in Florida have adult Paroon in generous housings (cleaner water than the vile Mekong/Chao Phraya) that are no longer than 4 foot.
It will be interesting to see how big TL's Paroon gets unless he completely overstocks his pond!
On a side note everyone seems to think an ID Shark gets to 4 foot but I think this is ludicrous too. 30 inch max maybe. For me it's all just insane measurement to get people buying them at their LFS so they can brag in the pub how big their new fish could get! or measurements by concerned folk in the trade/hobby looking to put people off!
