Here&There
I just recently found out that some people use paprika as a color enhancer. Is this very effective? How is it used? I've been getting good results on my silver aro and redhooks using krill and vita-chem, but I'm always looking for ways to improve their diet. Anyone have "before and after" experience with this?

Also... what about garlic? Never used it. Is it just a flavor enhancer?

garlic supposedly helps prevent HITH. It's also an attractant and easy to put into beefheart mix.

I tried to enhance red pigments by using paprika, gutloaded crickets before feeding and it works ok. Fish didn't seem to like the flavor as much....IDK maybe too spicy. feeding shrimp has roughly the same effect though. Sorry no before and after pics.

Paprika works but IMO if used in the wrong porportion it could be too spicey. A lot of discus keepers use it in their beefheart mix. Personally I'd use and do use Astaxanthin. It will bring out the red colors and is packed with antioxidants.

I've heard that feeding fish krill is very good for enhancing natural colours, as krill is very high in beta carotene, a natural colour enhancer. Personally i'd prefer to feed fish krill rather than something like paprika as it is more natural for fish to eat critters like krill and it is easily digestable for fish.
