Papyrocranus Congoensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I tried looking some stuff for you...looks like P. Congoensis are relatively new. There's not very much information on them. The only information I can fine is that they may be smaller that P. Afer. I would just assume the same care as P. Afer and you should be fine. As for price...depends where you're at, how easily they can come in, how many available, and if they're seasonal.

Where did you see that info dude? What does it look like?

Not much info about this fish as they never been seen in the hobby yet.

Dude I notice that you keep searching for fish that are hard to find. Even in the Philippines you won't find this species. I've been around the Philippines and know a lot of people in the fish business and they can't even get some rare oddball fishes. You can only find this species if you know someone that is able to catch you one in it's native place and ship it you. It also won't be that easy. Papyrocranus Afer is not even available in the Philippines.

Check the pap. Afer in MFK....must be along the same lines...

The reason I look is because they are interesting. Also because I am an Oddball fish fan. Thanks anyway for the tip.

Papyrocranus Afer is the close cousin, so they probably have the same care guide. I used to kept Papyrocranus Afer and they actually not that much of an interesting knifefish excpet that they when they swim, they have the arowana swimming style, but they just hide most of the time. I never get a chance to train it to eat pellets so I sold it. Clownknife and other asian knifefish species are more interesting in my opinion but you're probably bored of them as they are commonly seen:D.

No. I actually hardly see them nowadays. Most the pet stores I go to (Cebu) don't actively carry them, but can order for me.

Was your P. Afer back then aggressive? Heard that it was from a number of guys here.

Yes they are more aggressive than ck or rck but not to the point that it will kill their tank mates. Just give it more room and hiding space.
