Parachanna and channa.

Parachanna have a more primitive labyrinth organ, Sometime in the past the asian snakeheads were separated from the africans and evolved a little further in that area.

You need to look at in a different way. At the time Africa and Asia did not exist, they would have been part of the same land mass. There was no asian and no african Snakehead just a snakehead.

both evolving to adapt to environmental conditions, asia: a tropical jungle with lots of biodiversity, sun and rain. thus developing a more complex simple lung.
