Kev, that's a nice fish you rescued, it does look like that one you found online in the photo, be looking forward to some more shots tomorrow! You done good!

Thanks Ron, here's one more shot. This guy's a little camera shy, I'm sure he'll settle in soon and I'll be able to get some better photos.

freddy by the looks of it

Thanks, I'm certain he's a freddy after more research.

It's funny, I got this male friedrichsthalii yesterday and another male loiselli a while back from the same store, both sold as "gold jaguars". The Asian guy that owns the place wouldn't listen when I told him these aren't jags. He just told me they were both different colors of gold jags, lol. I just smiled, nodded and paid the guy. My loiselli turned out awesome and I think, given time to heal up, this freddy will too. :D

Agreed. Looks like a friedrichsthalii. Nice pick up!

does it have a purple sheen?

It's kind of a reddish purple sheen all across his back inculding his dorsal fin. His belly is kind of yellow/gold with hints of green. He looks really cool. I'm sure he'll get better as he settles in and heals up. He's a little beat up right now. He's real laid back though. His first day with his new tankmates (see sig) went well.:)
