Parachromis Fredrichsthali or Parachromis Motaguensis?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anybody know where i can get some rtm fry online? If not, I might wait and see if rapps ever gets em because I know he's reputable.

Good luck with your search. If it were me I'd hold out until spring unless I found what I REALLY wanted. All the best stuff pops up between jan and may. Try contacting various vendors to see what's on the forecast as far as imports go, you may be surprised at what you find.

I prefer the Motaguense, especially if you can get the red variants. I have been recently learning about them and I think they are the prettiest parachromis out there. Freddies can be brilliant yellow, but Motas can be red + blue + yellow. Hard to beat IMO.

If I had a better camera, you'd be able to see the blue on my male, but you can at least see the red and yellow (blue is on upper body and around lips).

First 3 pics are the male, the last is the female. I hope they breed. They seem to have bonded and are digging...if only the female can survive the "dating" portion...

You sure on the sex/ species on these?

First 3 pics look female, aside form the fins. A females fins could possibly get like that if she were raised alone..and the 4th looks like an RTM/Jag hybrid.

i love freddies and motas. they are really cool. if u can u should get a rtm. they look real good. might wanna upgrade tanks eventually from a 75 if u want a breeding pair

I have a breeding pair of freddies in a 75 right now,and they do fine. Took this picture today(rounding up the fry when i came close with the camera)

are those feddies or la ceibas? I know some people are calling them the same but I have to disagree, I think they are too different

if you like parachromis check out this thread i posted earlier last year. I have some good pics of them out of the water. As far as feddie vs rtm, I say freddie. More robust, a bit different (rtms very popular right now) and the female during breeding is like a bright bumble bee swimming in your tank
