Parachromis friedrichsthali?

I've had different results to what people have stated above. Of the 5 that I have kept they were quite mild and temperement was similar to an oscar. I have housed mine with Green terrors, oscars, cubans, jack dempseys, convicts and a bunch of other large community fish and were never the dominant fish.

They're pretty tame unless they're breeding, then they get really nasty, moreso than jags do when they breed.

I was sold a breeding pair some years ago, but they were misslabelled, they actually were Loisellei. I've seen loisellei labelled up as freds a few times.

I have a 3" Freddy, I got him when he was 1.5". I found his temperament to be very, very similar to my Jags. Meaning that Jags are sneaky hunters and lay in wait rather than chase prey, and wait till dusk/dark to strike! They won't hesitate to destroy fish that are bigger than themselves if they aren't similar temperamented fish that can reasonably defend themselves. Mine now lives in with a 9" Jag, a 5" Trimac and a 4" Salvini and he generally keeps to himself! Nice fish though! Good luck ith him!

I only owned a female 2 yrs. ago she didn't last more then a month with 1.0.2 grammodes in the tank the dovii I got along with her was also killed. All the ones I've seen were pretty mild dempsey like tempers. she reminded me of nimbochromis livinstoni in temperment. i take that back the livingstoni held off manguense, maculacuadas,& the likes.

Males grow up to about 10-12". In my experience they are not very agressive. Without a doubt the LEAST agressive Parachromis. But indeed a very pretty fish.

Nice pickup:clap
