The light coloring under the lower half, is making it look female.
For reference, here's when my male was 4-5" (at the time). Notice the dark spots under the lower half of his body, and dark smudges under the lower half of the jaw.

Well, found a picture of my 2-3" male. It looked like 30 other managuense in the same tank that I bought it from, so I couldn't even tell if it was male or female.
