I mean I think you are right in your identification and thank you for your help IDing my fish. I am currently trying to find a mate for both of these fish. Are the Monarch yellow jacket varieties harder to come by than the La Ceiba varieties?

I think most cichlids are easy with the vendors being able to ship and you having the money to spend.


My Answer to your question:
As of today, imo, Monarch yellow Jackets are less available than La Ceibas.

My 2 cents: If Monarch were never available, I'd never want a Freddy.

Just out of honest curiosity, what makes you favor one strain over the other?
 
Easy. Monarchs are rich in colors and La Ceibas are washed out compared to them.

Using Sharptoothbass's posted pics that he did not label.. Here we have a Monarch and a La Ceiba. See the diference?

I see what you're saying. I've heard La Ceibas referred to as yellow head Freddy's. Perhaps they received that nick name because that's the only place they exhibit the coloration.

loiselle mix with red tiger mota ur not the first or last to buy from fish stores that get them in mixed or miss identified .i have a loiselle now which i thought was afemale but dont know . when i bought it was in a tank labled red tiger mota . n there was 2 species in tank .5 inch didn't know to i kept staring at fish , thn did my home work on it, went bacn got a free red tiger mota too.now my red tiger mota is true but this loiselle is different same body lines all except for 2 blotches below lateral line but still waiting , went from tan to gold to yellow now something different cant explain markings there all except for 2 blotches like i said but , scales on side more pronounced not spots like a male just real graphic, anyway ya yours are mixed maybe but yours is part of new variant panama orange loiselle n red tiger mota also so slender to b all loiselle
