Try to get a 75g at least. Crank the temp to 80-82, feed some live food like worms. The female might not be ready and the male will kill her if she's not, so keep a close eye on them if you put him back in with her. I'd play it safe and put a divider in the tank until she's ready.
Let me know how that works out. After my Freddy's ate my danios I was thinking silver dollars may work (due to the larger body size), but I don't want to spend the money if they're just gonna get eaten.
Nugpuffer I bought 5 Silver Dollars and three more Giant Danios both seem to target which ever gets to close. I notice several missing scales on the Silver Dollars mostly but no deaths as for the Danios I bought 3 more and those three became food.
Danger_Chicken I dont want to buy a 75gal since im getting that 125gal only problem im having is I need my floor replaced due to a spill accident I had bout 4-5yrs ago and never got it fixed. The old flooring use to be parkay (sp?) would floors well now carpet lays ontop so when it got soaked the wood swelled and it looked like I had a dead person coming back from the dead in my room. Was suppose to have it checked out Wendesday but my uncle told my other uncle not to come over cuz I was asleep when I wasnt. I yi yi. Yeah 75gal would be to small for them in the long run and would just prolong the 125gal even more.
I did some reading about the umbee on website and was reading that they have to be closely monitored cuz the male will sometimes kill the female and a divider is reccomended. They also stated that the males do this sometimes cuz the female isnt ready to mate and he is. So I may try to improve there diets there main staple is Hikari Cichlid Gold which Ill be going with the Bio-Gold soon and will try to vary there diet more. What kind of worms would I feed my loisellei??? Cant feed them earthworms from my yard since my step dad uses pesticides and I never know when he sprays or when he doesnt.
I was thinking of using convicts only worry I have is the convicts pairing and now in need of a new tank. Yes I want a pair of convicts for the fry to use as feeders but not till later down the road.
Sorry for the long post and wait ive been busy and forgot I had this on here.
I will finish reading the rest of the post but for now let me add my $.02. Remove the male from the tank temporarily. Get yourself $10.00 or less tote from Wally World and suitable filter and place him there for now. Let the female settle and dominate the tank for now then try adding him later maybe a week or so. Now on to page 2.
Add a divider with a hole large enough for the female, but too small for the male. When she's ready she'll enter his territory and courtship will begin.

I attempted this already I had an empty 20H left the male there for a week with a filter from my already cycled tank she was doing good after the week was up I put him back and he took over the tank within an hour. He is a very dominant boy lol. May try to do it again though and try gettin the female more ready or conditioned. Higher protien amounts is what she would need right?

I can put a divider due to the driftwood in the tank extends from on side to the other also adding a hole would be pointless since there roughly the same size male in only slightly bigger then her now. I was offered this advice and wish I could go that route for now but to bad I cant
