The aggression between my Guapote Amarillo(s) has gone through the roof since I removed my Oscar from my 125 gallon tank. I thought they would be happy with that much space but I was wrong. Their water is great and their tank mates are 3 common pleco.I really do not know what to make of it, I am worried that they might kill each other. Both have developed sores from fighting over the past week. Any suggestions on what to do...?

Here is the tank:

their fighting doesn't seem to be too bad to me, maybe try putting some bigger rocks or driftwood for them to hide around so that it splits up the territory???

wasn't that bad, but remember: they are parachromis, they WILL fight

One thing that I noticed right away is that you have just the right (or wrong) amount of decoration, so that the fish are able to form territories, but not so much decoration that the fish aren't able to see each other so often. If you add quite a bit of decoration, espicially in the middle of the tank, your loisellei won't be in each other's face all of the time.

Beautiful fish, by the way :)

If the O kept the peace, put him back in!!!

I agree.:)

doesn't look to bad the first vid look almost like breeding behavior but the second vid showed some aggression i'd say add a few convicts or silver dollars to help aggression and your good

i would look for a bigger tank or just one with a larger foot print they don't need a tank that tall and the extra floor space would help the aggression problem alot plus they will out grow a tank that size when they get bigger they will just get more aggressive

The dimensions of the tank are 48x18x40 inches.
I have been planning on redecorating it so I think I am going to try that route first. I considered putting my oscar back in there but I thought that would be cutting it close with that many fish in there. Is it? How big do Loisellei get? These guys are going to be three years old this June or July.
