Parachromis managuense 'Honduran Black'? What's the scoop?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
...even the educated scientists take time from Star Trek to change Genus/names as well.

It's fun for everyone..."Yeah um, lets throw the Jags into Nandopsis genus, and Jacks are a bit lonely so lets put them in the Hypsophrys section"

"What? People are hatin' on us? Okay, lets not do that no more...we'll just say 'Ex' that way we're really not assigning them, they just used to be, yeah"

I only know about honduran blues.

Never heard of black. But nowadays people have to give names to preceived lines.

Example of that the Gorillus sp....now it is an sp.....

It's not a new species unless scientists determine it to be...then publish...and the scientific community accepts it.

Umbeeking just made up a name for the fish he caught.

Really no different than Con Donkel making up this name.

Likely just a common name to sell the "sexy" on the fish. I brought the Honduran variant of the managuense into the hobby...literally and figuratively with the photos of my wild pair. I guess the blue coloration on the back below the dorsal gave it it's common moniker.

Black coloration in this fish...and others...can happen for several reasons. Mostly due to stress or dominance in a group.

Mo, you can name your fishes Poopus Crappalophus and it'll never lose its "SEXY". Always bugeyed when I see your Fish and Photo skills in full display

I've seen some other common names give to some large fish that would make the "Poopus" name sound pretty cool. LOL thanks pal. I do appreciate your kind words.
