I lean towards you jag being a male...i have noticed that tank temp affects their color as well...i had did a water change the other day and saw my jag lighten up... was wondering what was going on until i noticed that i did not plug the heater back in...80-82 degrees fahrenheit he seems to be his best color...right now if you have a 20 cm salvini then your jag is more at risk...be careful...

My Jag loves to have multiple hiding spots or he gets stressed. His favorite is a 3 inch PVC pipe concealed by rock and plastic plants. He will retreat in there for a while and then emerges when he pleases. I removed the PVC pipe recently to clean it and he went pale and laid in a corner until I returned the pipe......then all was well. As he has gotten larger, he has started hanging out in the open more.
