i have 3 jaguar's 2 female's one is 5 inch the other is 3 1/2 inch i also have a male that is 4 inch..i have noticed but not sure that the male as looked like it has paired with the smaller female..is it coommon that he will mate with the smaller female cause my biggest female is maybe a half inch to a inch bigger than the male and she has already spawned and laid egg's but they are not fertile..what are the chance of getting my male to pair with my bigger female..is that possible..? male seem more interested in smaller female..? Any advice and help would be great thanks..

i dont know i think maybe the female dosent want to mate with a smaller male or the male dosent like big girls

lmao that's funny... hmmm well idk only thing i could think of is remove the smaller female and see if the male will pair with the bigger female..other than that idk unless i get some more answer's

If you want the male to pair with the bigger one then you would have to take out the smaller one.

Not a whole not is known about why some fish choose other fish, usually it's size or show of colors, but with everything I've look at with fish pairing, I can't find anything on why one jag will go with another female.

Also, one the male spawns with the other, he'll probably spawn with the other one soon after.

hmm ok well the smaller female is still not mature i believe and the mail is reaching that point....so should i take the smaller female out and just keep male and larger female in there or just leave them in there and maybe he will spawn with both female's once one lays egg's and other female is mature..?

I would leave them all together for the moment. Pairing cichlids most of the time works much better when they pick their own mate.

ok the only aggression i have seen so far is the bigger female chase the smaller female..other than that they are fine..one my big female spawn's again will the male notice and fertalize even tho he has another mate..the other female..?

I saw you have mentioned that the Bigger female has laid eggs once...and they were not fertile...correct me if I am wrong.
If they were not fertile then chances are high that the male wud try its luck with the smaller female.
