Thanks!!

Thank you, I'm going to enjoy watching them grow.

Okay, so I've always wondered this and this is going to sound really silly. You just go to the grocery store and buy this, right? Not a special food at a LFS? And is it bought at the seafood counter or can you buy the frozen? Also, I gotta get these two eating Cichlid Gold first. They just swim right by it lol. I'm going to try breaking some up and throwing it in there. I think it sinks if you break it up.

Also, they are STILL hiding a lot. I've never had a cichlid hide like this.

Their shy behavior will not last long. Enjoy it while you can lol.

some can be purchased at the fish market and some at the LFS in the freezer

Great looking little pair you have there! Jags are really a cool fish once they put on some size. Unfortunately my jag took a leap from my tank while I was on vacation....

Sorry to hear that!

So I broke up a few mini Cichlid Gold pellets and dropped them in the tank. They sank and floated all over the tank. I saw on of them take one in and spit it out. I have two bad children.

My jag is extremely picky. It takes a long time to get him to like anything new. A long time. He currently will only eat one type of pellet I have and dried shrimp.

mine wouldn't even eat the treats like freeze dried krill, mysis shrimp or other items I fed the tank. I had massivore in my rotation and that literally was the only food it would eat...

So...I just did a water change and for whatever reason they're more social now? Too funny.

Anyway, about the food, do I just keep dropping the pellets in there and taking them out until they eventually eat them when I feed? I don't want to leave uneaten food in there so I can't leave it in there until they decide they're finally going to eat. Once they swim by it several times I just take it out. Starve them?

Edit: This isn't my first time keeping fish I've just never had a fish that hides and doesn't eat immediately after I introduce them.
