Are jaguar Cichlids nocturnal or diurnal predators? Also is it better to leave his lights on or off qt night?

Jags a mostly active during the day.
Always try to recreate a natural day night cycle for any fish you keep.
If the times you wish to view them is opposite what is convenient you can adjust the time the lights are on.
You just want a schedule that provides a day and a night for the animal.

Agree with BIG-G, a light on all night will stress them out, causing disease, and or shorting life span.
No problem leaving a light on until you go to bed.
In the tropics (like where I, and managuense live) it starts getting dark gradually from 6:00 to7:00 pm, sunrise about by 6AM gradually brightening, it would be best for your light schedule to mimic a similar duration, although it doesn't need to be those exact hours, and times.
