i have alwayed like this species of fish. They way they hunt , there shape and there aggression. what my question is which of the gene grows the smallest and what the min. tank requrement. I have had owned doviis, jaguars and freddies. But never had them to adults.

Yes, as Pebble said, it's loisellei. Non-Parachromis (but nearly identical in morphology and behavior) are grammodes and istlanum. They are no bigger than loisellei and most likely smaller.

Fredrichsthallii usually stay relatively small as well. Mota's can be a little bigger, and then mana's and dovii are obviously much larger.

Fredrichsthallii and loisellei is there much of a difference in temperment and what the min requirement for a breeding pair

go for a 75 for a pair of small ones and a 125 for life loisellei males can get pretty good size 10''-11'' so they need a little room a 125 would be good and give them room if one got aggressive

motas stay small to i've never seen a female mota over 7''-8'' but males can get around 12'' but they both need about the same size tank for a breeding pair so its your choice i like the red tiger motas alot but loiselleis look great to one of the few large yellow SA/CA cichlids

but with the fredrichsthalii you may of all ready had a loisellei most freddy cichlids are really loiselleis they look alot a like its hard to find a real freddy some are even normal motas beeing sold as freddys

nope motas won't get over 12'' and jaguars get around 16'' and bigger in the wild

freddys seem to get a little bigger but not by much most will say they all pretty much get the same size with males being the bigger of the two sexes

i did not say nothing about jags i know that they get big , doviis are first and jags are second i was saying that all the others get around the same size
