They are labrynth fish that should be treated like gouramis and bettas. Do not put males together because they will chew on each other's fins.

I loved mine. They get comparatively big for gouramis and need a tank bigger than one might think at first. Otherwise, they get very aggressive. 20 gal would too small, I had mine in an 80 gal and they were very happy. Mine were peaceful even while the male watched over the foam nest with the fry.
