This pair of 'breidohri' have spawned multiple times but this is the first time they have had their fry really out in the open.

Simply awesome, I have a 4 inch male and I do have some questions. How big are they? and what size tank are they in? Also, I noticed your using sand as substrate, does this have more benefits then gravel?

Thanks in advance

Awesome looking pair :)
Thank you.

My largest male is about 7", the females smaller at 4-5". They are quite slow growing. These are about two years old. They are presently in a 165G with a mix of several other CAs. I like using pool filter sand - personal choice. It doesn't collect as much detritus as gravel so a little easier to keep clean. In their nature habitat, the substrate is most likely a sand/small gravel mix with larger rocks and driftwood (deadfall).

Very nice pair. They seem very alert as you are taking video of them, and seem like they will jump at/attack you at the first chance they see you as threat. I also had not seen this species in this coloration, it seems different from their normal (non-breeding) dress. Very interesting.

Lovely!

Yes, I think they would "eat my face off" if they could. Their breeding dress is more of a high contrast grey/white and black. More effective as a warning dress than the colorful dress. Here's a pic of the male out of breeding dress-much more "flashy".

congrats on the spawn, nice pair, they are pretty slow growing my male went from .5- 7inches in a little over a year.

If two year fish are only 7 and 4 inch, they are small. Are their ultimate size small and this is why they are slow growing?
