If two year fish are only 7 and 4 inch, they are small. Are their ultimate size small and this is why they are slow growing?

They max out at 12 inches, but as I said my male achieved that in 1 year but he's alone so all of his energy goes to growth and not breeding.

No, apparently they reach around 12". I can't see mine reaching that but time will tell

Thanks.Yes, the fry are noticeably dark. I syphoned about 100 out yesterday into a small white pail. The fry appeared black against the white of the pail (like miniature tadpoles)
